  1. Gather Your Tools:
    • Matcha bowl (Chawan)
    • Matcha whisk (Chasen)
    • Matcha scoop (Chashaku) or teaspoon
    • Hot water (approximately 70-80°C / 158-176°F)
  2. Measure the Matcha:
    • Scoop 1-2 grams (about 1-2 teaspoons) of Okimidori matcha powder into the matcha bowl using a matcha scoop or teaspoon.
  3. Add Hot Water:
    • Pour about 60-80 ml (2-3 oz) of hot water at 70-80°C / 158-176°F into the bowl. The water should not be boiling—too hot water can make the matcha taste bitter.
  4. Whisk the Matcha:
    • Using the matcha whisk (Chasen), gently whisk the matcha in a “W” or zigzag motion for about 15-20 seconds. This will create a smooth, frothy texture on top.
    • Aim for a velvety foam and avoid over-whisking
    • Optional Sweetener: Feel free to add honey, maple syrup, or another sweetener to your liking.

Okimidori is known for its deep umami flavor, comparable to luxury varieties like Samidori and Asahi.
This matcha contains higher levels of amino acids (L-theanine), which contribute to a sweeter and smoother taste with minimal bitterness.
This makes Okimidori particularly well-suited for ceremonial matcha, as it can be enjoyed purely without the need for sugar or milk.

✔ Richer Color and Finer Texture

  • Deep, vibrant green color due to higher chlorophyll content (resulting from shade-grown cultivation).
  • Extra fine milling, giving it an exceptionally smooth and creamy texture.
  • The quality is often recognized by the velvety foam layer that forms when whisked properly.

✔ Shade-Grown for Enhanced Nutrients

  • Like the finest matcha varieties, Okimidori is shade-grown for 20-30 days before harvest.
  • This increases L-theanine and antioxidant levels, leading to a more complex flavor and a calming effect without an energy crash (thanks to the L-theanine + caffeine combination).

✔ Exclusivity & Premium Processing

  • Because Okimidori is more challenging to cultivate, it is typically produced on a smaller scale.
  • Farmers carefully select the best leaves and grind them using traditional stone mills, enhancing both flavor and aroma.
  • Okimidori is primarily used for high-quality matcha from Uji and is rarely found in commercial bulk products.
  • Intended Use:
This product is intended for healthy adults as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle. Not suitable for childrenpregnant or nursing women, or individuals with medical conditions without prior consultation with a healthcare professional.

Vivid Green Color: This cultivar produces a brilliantly vibrant green matcha, a hallmark of high-quality tea. Premium Growing Conditions: Samidori thrives in shade-grown environments, which enhances its L-theanine and chlorophyll levels. This results in matcha that is not only flavorful but also packed with nutrients. Heritage and Tradition: As a traditional and widely prized cultivar in Uji, Japan, Samidori is deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture, reflecting the craftsmanship and care behind every cup of matcha. Our Ceremonial grade Matcha is packed with natural compounds called catechins, a type of antioxidant that protects your body from harmful substances and keeps your cells healthy. One of the most potent catechins in matcha is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which is known to help reduce inflammation, improve heart health, and support weight management. Since matcha involves consuming the entire tea leaf rather than just brewing it, it provides significantly more antioxidants than regular green tea. In fact, matcha contains more antioxidants than many superfoods, including spinach and blueberries, making it a powerful addition to a healthy lifestyle.

While drinking Matcha every day isn’t necessary, many people enjoy its benefits when included as a part of their daily routine. Regular consumption can promote sustained energy, focus, and support overall health with its rich antioxidants.

Yes, you can enjoy more than one serving of Matcha a day. However, be mindful of your caffeine tolerance, as matcha contains a moderate amount of caffeine. Drinking 2-3 servings a day is typically fine for most individuals, but it's best to listen to your body.

Our Matcha can replace coffee, sugary drinks, and energy drinks. It provides a more balanced and sustained energy boost, making it a great alternative to traditional caffeinated beverages.

If you’re looking for a natural energy boost, improved focus, and overall wellness, matcha may be a great choice for you. It’s packed with antioxidants and offers a gentle, sustained energy boost without the jitters that coffee sometimes causes.

YOMYO MATCHA is held to the highest quality standards. Unlike other brands that often use lower-quality matcha sourced from different districts in Japan, we exclusively use ceremonial-grade matcha from Uji, the most renowned region for premium matcha production. Uji matcha is celebrated for its exceptional flavor, vibrant color, and high nutrient content. Additionally, we ensure that our matcha is made exclusively from first-harvest tea leaves, which are handpicked at their peak to guarantee the richest taste and highest concentration of antioxidants and amino acids. By prioritizing these meticulous sourcing practices, we deliver a product that stands far above the rest in quality, flavor, and effectiveness.

YOMYO MATCHA contains only the finest, ceremonial-grade matcha powder sourced from premium tea farms in Uji, Japan, specifically using the highly prized Samidori cultivar. Our matcha is made from 100% pure matcha leaves, ensuring that you get all the health benefits, including antioxidants, amino acids, and L-theanine, with every serving. We do not add any artificial additives, preservatives, or fillers, keeping it as natural and pure as possible for the best flavor and nutritional value. The Samidori matcha we use is carefully handpicked during the first harvest, guaranteeing the highest quality and most vibrant taste.

Drinking matcha offers a wide range of health benefits, thanks to its rich concentration of antioxidants, amino acids, and other essential nutrients. Some of the key benefits you can expect include:

  1. Sustained Energy Boost: Matcha provides a gentle and long-lasting energy lift without the jitters or crashes often associated with coffee. This is due to its combination of caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes calmness and focus.

  2. Enhanced Focus and Mental Clarity: The L-theanine in matcha helps improve cognitive function, enhancing your concentration, memory, and mental clarity, making it ideal for study or work sessions.

  3. Rich in Antioxidants: Matcha is packed with antioxidants, particularly catechins like EGCG, which help protect your cells from free radical damage and support overall health.

  4. Improved Metabolism and Weight Management: Matcha has been shown to increase metabolism and promote fat burning, making it a great addition to a healthy lifestyle.

  5. Promotes Relaxation: Despite its energizing effects, the L-theanine in matcha also has calming properties, helping reduce stress and promote a sense of relaxation.

  6. Supports Immune Health: The high levels of antioxidants and nutrients in matcha can help strengthen the immune system, keeping you healthy and well.

Overall, drinking matcha regularly can contribute to improved energy, focus, health, and well-being, all while offering a delicious, nutrient-packed drink.

Our Matcha tea will be fine for 1 to 2 years (depending on the Harvest and production date if you keep it in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for a long time if you keep it in the freezer. However, if you keep it in a cool, dark place, the color and taste will change in 3 to 4 months in summer. Also, even if you keep it in the refrigerator, matcha/green tea is prone to absorbing aromas, so please be careful not to store it with strong-smelling items as the odor will transfer to it. For these reasons, the "best before" date printed on the matcha/green tea you purchased is a guideline when stored in a cool, dark place.

At our company, we are committed to delivering the finest matcha experience, which is why we use the Samidori cultivar for our matcha.

What makes Samidori special?

  • Rich Flavor Profile: Samidori is celebrated for its smooth sweetness, high umami content, and well-rounded taste, making it ideal for ceremonial-grade matcha.
  • Vivid Green Color: This cultivar produces a brilliantly vibrant green matcha, a hallmark of high-quality tea.
  • Premium Growing Conditions: Samidori thrives in shade-grown environments, which enhances its L-theanine and chlorophyll levels. This results in matcha that is not only flavorful but also packed with nutrients.

By using Samidori, we ensure that our matcha is of the highest quality, offering a superior taste and visual appeal that honors the art of Japanese tea-making.

At YOMYO, we believe in offering the very best. That’s why we source primium Samidori matcha from the finest tea farms in Uji, Japan, paying 700–900 USD per kilogram to ensure an exceptional experience. This reflects the meticulous care that goes into cultivating and processing ceremonial-grade matcha—resulting in a matcha that delivers unmatched flavor, vibrant color, and a wide range of health benefits. Our commitment to quality means that every serving honors the tradition and craftsmanship of Japanese tea-making, giving you an authentic, world-class matcha experience that’s truly worth it.

Even though our profit margins are smaller, our commitment is to deliver exceptional matcha that honors the tradition and craftsmanship of Japanese tea-making. For us, it’s not just about selling a product—it’s about sharing an authentic, world-class matcha experience.

When purchasing matcha, it’s important to be cautious about the quality and origin of the product. Not all matcha is created equal, and some brands may cut corners to offer cheaper options. Here’s why you should be careful:

  • Origin of the Matcha: Some matcha on the market comes from regions outside of Japan, such as China, where the growing conditions, processing methods, and standards may not align with the meticulous care and quality control found in Japan. Japanese matcha, especially from regions like Uji, is known for its superior flavor and nutrient content.
  • Second or Third Harvest: Matcha harvested during the second or third flush of the season is often lower in quality compared to the first flush (the first harvest). Lower-quality matcha tends to have a more bitter taste and fewer antioxidants. Be cautious, as some brands may use second or third harvest leaves to cut costs.
  • Poor Cultivation Practices: Matcha from non-traditional regions or farms may not undergo the same shade-growing process that is critical for producing high-quality matcha. This can result in matcha with lower levels of L-theanine, which affects the flavor, sweetness, and health benefits.
  • Low-Quality Processing: Many matcha brands do not invest in high-quality stone grinding, which preserves the delicate flavors and nutrients of the tea. Poor processing techniques can lead to matcha that is dusty, stale, or lacking in vibrancy.

By choosing matcha from trusted brands that prioritize authenticity, quality sourcing, and traditional farming practices, you can ensure that you’re getting the best possible matcha experience. At our company, we carefully select Samidori matcha grown in Japan’s Uji region, guaranteeing that each cup provides the rich flavor, nutrients, and benefits you expect.
